A significant portion of this growth will be in the technology sector. It is projected with an estimated 2.73 million new tech jobs creation by 2028.
These roles will span various fields, including software development, data science, cybersecurity, and more.
The retail sector will lead employment growth, requiring an additional 6.96 million workers to support its expansion.
Following closely, the manufacturing sector will add 1.5 million jobs, while the education and healthcare sectors will see increases of 0.84 million and 0.80 million jobs, respectively.
These sectors are anticipated to benefit from the adoption of AI and automation technologies, which will drive efficiency and innovation.
In-Demand Tech Roles and Impact of AI on Job Market
Certain roles within the technology sector will see significant growth.
Software application developers will see an increase of 109,700 positions. Systems software developers and data engineers will add 48,800 and 48,500 jobs, respectively.
Other in-demand roles include web developers, data analysts, and software testers, with projected increases ranging from 45,300 to 48,500 positions.
AI will serve as a key catalyst for job creation across India’s growth engines, particularly in roles requiring advanced technical skills.
