Avery McMullen of Sheridan HS To Play Soccer At CSU-Pueblo – Sheridan Media

The Wyoming High School Soccer season doesn’t start until March, but one Sheridan High School senior already has her college plans set.

Avery McMullen has signed a written offer of athletic aid (formerly known as a National Letter of Intent) to play soccer at Colorado State University Pueblo.

She says she had been considering Montana State Billings, as well as a number of Junior Colleges in Wyoming and Colorado.

McMullen explains what she thinks Lady ThunderWolves saw in her, and why she made her choice.

“When I went to the camp to visit them, they saw that I played really aggressively. I think that they liked how strong I was on the ball and also that I was tall. Not a lot of soccer are above 5’6”, 5’7” and I think that they like I can head the ball, but I also think they liked how encouraging our team was, because I know a few other players that were on my team at the camp I think got offers, and so I think our team overall did a really good of showcasing what kind of players we were. There’s a new coaching staff, their athletic facilities are really really good. Their school is based around all their athletics, and I think they have potential to win a national title in the coming years and so I’m really excited to be a part of that.”

She adds she is considering majoring in biology, with a minor in political science.

Last month, the NCAA eliminated the National Letter of Intent Program, which is what it had been called for the past 60 years.
