Punjab’s Farm Tourism Boom: A New Era for Travel and Local Economy | Chandigarh News

Chandigarh: Punjab tourism and cultural affairs minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said on Wednesday that Punjab is rapidly transforming into a farm tourism hub due to state govt’s policy on it.
Addressing ‘Punjab Day’ celebrations at India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024, organised at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Sond highlighted state govt’s initiatives to promote tourism and steps taken for its overall development.
The minister added Punjab govt had been making concerted efforts to develop farm, rural and agro-tourism on a large scale. As a result of these efforts, Hansali village in Fatehgarh Sahib district was awarded the title of ‘Best Village of India’ in Sept, he added.
Sond said farm tourism had been proving beneficial in strengthening local economy and increasing farm income, thereby creating new opportunities for tourism. He added ‘Invest Punjab’ portal ranked first among 28 states and Punjab had nearly 58,000 registered micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which is also highest in the country. The minister said Punjab govt is mulling to set up a film city to tap the entertainment potential of the state as it has a lot to offer geographically, culturally and historically. tnn
