Rita Ora and Sterling K Brown join Henry Cavill’s new movie
Rita Ora and Sterling K Brown have joined the cast of Henry Cavill’s new movie Voltron.
The pop star and the This Is Us actor will appear alongside Cavill, John Kim and Daniel Quinn-Toye in the upcoming live-action film from Amazon MGM Studios. Filming is set to begin in Australia this month (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Red Notice filmmaker Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing from a script he wrote with Ellen Shanman. Thurber will also produce alongside Todd Lieberman, Bob Koplar and David Hoberman.
The Voltron franchise is based on several Japanese anime series, including Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV. It notably follows a team of space explorers who pilot a giant super robot known as Voltron.

The series has since spawned several US versions including Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender, which lasted for eight seasons.
While plot details for the new film are currently being kept under wraps, Thurber teased what fans can expect in a video message that was shared during VoltCon in October.
“I want to make sure that we stay true to the heart and the spirit of Voltron. In this film, we’re going to be introducing an entirely new generation of pilots,” he explained.
“We’ve reimagined Voltron for the live-action world, but we’re going to stay true to those iconic elements that you love, that I love.”
