Holgorsen inks 2-year deal as full-time offensive coordinator

LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – Nebraska’s play caller is here to stay.

Dana Holgorsen signed a two-year deal to become the Big Red’s full-time offensive coordinator with an annual salary of $1.2 million per year, Husker Athletics announced Monday.

Holgorsen — who served as head coach of West Virginia for eight seasons and Houston for five — was brought in by Matt Rhule on Nov. 5 to be an “offensive consultant” following Nebraska’s 27-20 home loss to UCLA. Less than a week later, Holgorsen was handed play-calling duties for the Huskers while previous offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield was demoted to tight-ends coach.

Holgorsen has also worked as a coordinator before — at Texas Tech, Houston, and Oklahoma State. In each of his six seasons as a coordinator, Holgorsen’s teams ranked in the top 10 nationally in total offense.

Holgorsen will next appear on Nebraska’s sideline when the Huskers play in their first bowl game since 2016. Bowl matchups will be made official Sunday.
