Oppo launches ColorOS 15 in India: Key features and release schedule – Technology News

Oppo has officially rolled out ColorOS 15, its latest operating system update, for smartphones in India. This IOS update brings a range of new features and improvements including a refreshed user interface (UI), enhanced visual elements, detailed animations, and new Flux themes for a more personalised user experience.

The rollout of ColorOS 15 has already begun in India, with the first devices to receive the update being the Oppo Find N3, Oppo Find N3 Flip, and Oppo Reno 11 Pro. These models were updated starting in November 2024, as part of the initial batch of devices to receive the latest OS. Additionally, the new Oppo Find X8 series, including the Find X8 and Find X8 Pro, comes pre-loaded with ColorOS 15, offering users the latest features right out of the box.

Oppo has shared a detailed schedule for the release of ColorOS 15 in India on X. The release timeline for devices compatible with the ColorOS 15 update began November 2024, when OPPO rolled out the update for a select range of devices. This includes the OPPO Find N3, OPPO Find N3 Flip, and OPPO Reno 11 Pro 5G.

In December 2024, a broader range of devices will receive the ColorOS 15 update. This includes the OPPO Reno 12 Pro 5G, OPPO Reno 12 5G, and OPPO Reno 12 FS 5G, alongside the OPPO Reno 11 5G and OPPO Reno 11 F 5G. Additionally, the OPPO K12x 5G, OPPO F25 Pro 5G, OPPO F27 5G, and the OPPO Pad 3 Pro and OPPO Pad 2 tablets will all be updated, allowing users across different product categories to enjoy the improvements in performance, security, and interface design that ColorOS 15 offers.

The Q1 2025 timeframe will see even more devices compatible with ColorOS 15. This includes the OPPO Find N2 Flip and OPPO Find X5 Pro, two prominent devices in OPPO’s flagship lineup, alongside the OPPO Reno 10 Pro+ 5G and OPPO Reno 10 Pro 5G. The OPPO Reno 11 A and the OPPO F27 Pro+ 5G will also receive the update, ensuring that a wide range of users can benefit from the new software enhancements.

Finally, Q2 2025 will mark the release of ColorOS 15 for a variety of additional models, such as the OPPO Reno 12 FS, OPPO Reno 12 F, and OPPO Reno 11 FS. Users of the OPPO Reno 8 T, OPPO Reno 8 T 5G, and OPPO F23 5G will also be able to upgrade to ColorOS 15, providing them with access to OPPO’s latest software features across different price points and device categories. This extended timeline reflects OPPO’s commitment to offering software updates to a wide range of devices, ensuring an improved and unified experience for its global user base.

 New features and AI enhancements

One of the standout features of ColorOS 15 is the introduction of the Flux theme, which offers users the ability to customise their home and lock screens with various layouts, effects, and wallpapers. The update also enhances the dynamic motion effects for common tasks such as charging and fingerprint authentication, providing a smoother and more engaging user experience.

Oppo has also integrated the new Trinity Engine in ColorOS 15, which promises significant performance improvements. This engine features a smart caching system that optimises the CPU and system performance, resulting in a 22% improvement in overall system smoothness. Battery life is also improved, with Oppo claiming an extension of up to 12 minutes for devices running the new OS.
