India Meteorological Department Celebrates 150 Years with National Olympiad for Students

   

SRINAGAR: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in collaboration with the South Asian Meteorological Association (SAMA) and the Indian Meteorological Society (IMS), is set to commemorate its 150th anniversary with the launch of a National Meteorological Olympiad (Met-Olympiad).

 

The Met-Olympiad, scheduled between December 2024 and January 2025, will be conducted in two categories- Junior (Classes 8 and 9) and Senior (Class 11). Registrations opened on December 1, 2024, and will close on December 10, 2024. The state-level examinations will take place on December 14-15, followed by the announcement of results on December 17. National-level contests and IMD’s 150th Foundation Day celebrations will culminate on January 15, 2025, in New Delhi.

 

Winners at the state and national levels will receive cash prizes, certificates, and mementos. State-level first-place winners will receive Rs 5,000, while national-level winners will be awarded up to Rs 25,000. Additionally, the top state winners will be invited to New Delhi for a workshop and celebrations, with all travel and lodging expenses covered by the IMD.
