Rajkummar Rao, Vicky Kaushal recommend THESE south films that stayed with them this year

2024 has been the year of the south, once again. While southern cinema has always been churning out quality films, 2024 saw the release of some titles that earned pan-Indian recognition. With Malayalam films like Manjummel Boys and Aavesham making it big across India, and Tamil film Maharaja minting big numbers in China, Hindi actors Rajkummar Rao and Vicky Kaushal share their recommendations of the year.

South cinema has done it once again. Ever since the start of this year, films from Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil have been raising the benchmarks one film after the other. While it might come as no surprise to know some of the highest grossers of this year come from the south, actors Vicky Kaushal and Rajkummar Rao recently shared films that they watched this year and stayed with them.

In a roundtable for The Hollywood Reporter, the actors shared a list of films that stayed with them. For Vicky Kaushal, the list of films includes Maharaja, Manjummel Boys, and Stree 2, while Rajkummar Rao recommended Meiyazhagan, Ullozhukku, The Goat Life and Madgaon Express. Maharaja seems to be a recurring title, given how actors Anna Ben and Pratik Gandhi also listed the film. You can watch Maharaja, The Goat Life, and Meiyazhagan on Netflix, while Ullozhukku is available on Prime Video.

Maharaja mints big numbers in China

Maharaja, headlined by Vijay Sethupathi and directed by Nithilan Saminathan, released recently in China. The film had a phenomenal run at the box office both in India and China, and collected over Rs 150 crore at the box office.

Maharaja also stars Anurag Kashyap, Natty, Mamta Mohandas, Singampuli, Munishkanth and others. Produced by Passion Studios, the film is thriller drama revolving around a father’s revenge on perpetrators who committed wrong to his daughter.
