DC’s Bane & Deathstroke Movie Gets Filming Update
Following the resounding success of HBO’s The Penguin series, new details about the Bane and Deathstroke movie, the next ambitious villains project, have emerged from recent reports.
A new report from Production Bulletin has revealed DC Studios’ planned start date for the production of the untitled Bane and Deathstroke film, with a fall 2025 production start in the works. The movie was officially announced in September 2024; however, no information about potential filming dates was available at the time—until now. Filming on the project is now expected to begin almost exactly one year after the initial announcement.

The report also revealed the filming location for James Gunn’s ambitious DC Bane and Deathstroke project. Filming is reportedly set to take place in the United Kingdom, a popular location for recent DC films such as The Batman and The Flash. This news comes as no surprise, given that Warner Bros., the parent company of DC, owns and operates its own production studio in Leavesden, England. The Batman – Part II is reportedly set to begin filming next year at the same studio, just months before production on Bane and Deathstroke.
What We Know About the Bane and Deathstroke Movie So Far
Matthew Orton, credited as a writer for Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated Captain America: Brave New World, is penning the untitled Bane and Deathstroke film. Orton also wrote the upcoming action thriller Cleaner, starring Daisy Ridley, most known for her role in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Additionally, Orton previously wrote an episode of the MCU’s Moon Knight TV series. James Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-CEOs of DC Studios, are also expected to produce the Bane and Deathstroke film.

Bane and Deathstroke’s Previous Film Appearances
Both Bane and Deathstroke have garnered considerable popularity among comic book fans and general audiences alike. Bane’s prominence surged after Tom Hardy’s portrayal of the character as the primary antagonist in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. Similarly, Deathstroke gained attention after Joe Manganiello’s post-credits cameo in Justice League, which ignited speculation about his potential for a larger role in future films alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. While those earlier plans never materialized, it appears that Gunn and the team at DC Studios remain keen on exploring both characters’ potential on the big screen.
With filming dates and locations now reported, more updates on the Bane and Deathstroke project are expected to be revealed soon.
