Kia India launches scrappage incentive program for sustainable mobility

Kia India, one of the country’s fastest-growing premium car manufacturers, has announced a new scrappage incentive program to promote sustainable mobility. The initiative offers substantial benefits to customers who scrap their old vehicles, regardless of make or model, in exchange for purchasing a new Kia car. The program is aligned with Kia’s commitment to reducing environmental impact and fostering a cleaner future for the Indian automotive market.

Under the program, customers can receive incentives amounting to 1.5% of the ex-showroom price or up to Rs. 20,000 (whichever is lower) on any Kia vehicle when they scrap their old cars and present a valid certificate of deposit. This incentive applies across Kia’s entire vehicle lineup, providing customers with an affordable opportunity to upgrade to the latest low-emission, feature-rich models while promoting responsible vehicle recycling.

Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior Vice-President of Sales & Marketing at Kia India, expressed the company’s vision for sustainable mobility, stating, “At Kia, we have always been committed to supporting clean, sustainable mobility solutions. This scrappage incentive initiative is not only aligned with the government’s scrappage mandate but also reflects our dedication to empowering customers to make environmentally responsible choices. We are proud to assist our customers in transitioning to more efficient, lower-emission vehicles while also encouraging the eco-friendly recycling of old cars.”

Through this initiative, Kia India aims to accelerate the adoption of newer, cleaner automotive technologies while supporting the government’s policies on scrappage and environmental sustainability. The program further highlights Kia’s proactive role in building an environmentally conscious automotive ecosystem and addressing the growing demand for greener transportation options.

Kia India signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the State Government of Andhra Pradesh in April 2017 to establish a manufacturing facility in Anantapur District. Mass production began in August 2019, and the plant has an annual production capacity of 300,000 units. Kia India rebranded itself in April 2021 under its global identity, “Movement that Inspires,” focused on providing innovative products and meaningful customer experiences.

Since its inception, Kia India has launched seven vehicles in the Indian market, including the Seltos, Sonet, Carens, EV6, Carnival, and EV9, with over 1.6 million vehicle dispatches from its Anantapur plant. This includes 1.2 million domestic sales and over 3.67 lakh exports. With over 4.5 lakh connected cars on Indian roads and a robust network of 700 touchpoints across 300 cities, Kia India continues to strengthen its leadership in connected and sustainable mobility solutions.
