New Maruti Dzire – Mastermind Vlogs
In Nov 2024, Maruti Dzire sedan topped sales chart, surpassing both Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze by a huge margin
Every passenger car segment in India, be it the compact, mid-size and sub-compact SUV segment and hatchback segment have significantly overtaken the sedan segment in terms of sales. While SUVs offer the advantages of better road presence, higher ground clearance and more versatility, the hatchback range is better suited for first time and budget buyers in India.
Sedan Sales Nov 2024
Sedan sales in Nov 2024 have suffered a YoY and MoM decline. Sales fell to 24,757 units, down by 19.27% from 30,665 unit sales of Nov 2023. MoM sales dipped by 11.40% over 27,941 units sold in Oct 2024. Despite this down turn, there were models such as the Hyundai Aura and VW Virtus along with the Honda Amaze that did see some positivity even as sales of all other sedans dropped drastically.
Sedan Sales Nov 2024 – YoY Comparison
Maruti Dzire was the best-selling sedan in Nov 2024. Sales stood at 11,779 units and even as sales declined by 26.22% YoY and 7.24% MoM, it continued to hold a prominent position with a 47.58% market share. The Dzire was also the only sedan to surpass the 10,000 unit sales mark. With the 2024 Maruti Dzire launched, bringing with it several first in segment features, sales are set to improve in the months ahead.
Hyundai Aura witnessed strong performance in Nov 2024 with 4,248 unit sales. This was a 10.34% YoY growth from 3,850 units sold in Nov 2023. MoM sales however, declined by 11.59% from 4,805 units sold in Oct 2024. Honda Amaze secured a No. 3 spot on the sedan sales list of Nov 2024 with 2,628 unit sales. Even as this has seen a marginal 0.42% YoY decline, its MoM sales grew by 9.82% from 2,393 units sales of Oct 2024. Market share also improved from 8.59% to 10.62% MoM. With the new Amaze now launched, Honda can expect boost in Amaze sales.
Sedan Sales Nov 2024 – MoM Comparison
VW Virtus showed off a 24.11% YoY growth with 1,457 unit sales in Nov 2024. The Virtus had hit a 50,000 unit sales milestone in Oct 2024, a feat achieved in 28 months since its launch. It is the 5-star GNCAP safety rating of the Virtus along with a high performance engine lineup that has stood it in good stead.
Hyundai Verna was at a No. 5 position on this list with 1,213 unit sales. It suffered a 28.69% YoY and 4.64% MoM decline to command a 4.90% market share. It was followed by Skoda Slavia with 1,131 unit sales suffering a hefty YoY and MoM decline in sales. Tata Tigor / EV had recorded 1,131 unit sales last month while Honda City had 709 units sold in Nov 2024. Both these models, besides recording lower sales, also saw a considerable decline in market share.
Maruti Ciaz Sales up 114.75%
One sedan on this list that has seen outstanding YoY growth was the Maruti Ciaz. Sales surged to 597 units in Nov 2024, up by 114.75% over 278 units sold in Nov 2024 while its MoM performance declined by 9.41%. Toyota Camry reported 130 unit sales while there were only 6 units of the Skoda Superb sedan sold last month.
