Fit India Cyclothon organized in Silvassa of Union Territory
To realize the Fit India dream of the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India had resolved to celebrate Fit India Week. In this context, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organized a cycling event on 17 December, 2024 across India. The objective of this Fit India Cyclothon is to promote physical activities in the country, encourage healthy lifestyle and make citizens aware of fitness. Through this event, the message will be given that regular physical exercise, especially cycling, is extremely beneficial for mental and physical health in life.
Following the above, under the able leadership and guidance of Praful Patel, Hon’ble Administrator of Union Territory Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and Lakshadweep and as per the directions of Sports and Youth Affairs and Education Secretary Dr. Arun T. and with the support of Sports Director Arun Gupta, Fit India Cyclothon event was organized at Khelo India State Center of Excellence, Dokmardi Silvassa on 17 December 2024 at 8 am in Silvassa, Union Territory. For which the Union Territory Administration was supported by the Sports Authority of India. More than 200 participants took part in this event.
This Fit India Cyclothon was flagged off by Deputy Collector of Silvassa Amit Kumar ji and department officer Akshay Kotalwar. Chief Guest Amit Kumar ji expressed his views and said that we should also use cycling in our daily exercise and routine. On this important occasion, department officials Mr. Mahesh Patel, Mr. Devraj Singh Rathore and Mr. Santosh Kapri gave their valuable contribution. Archery coach Mr. Rahul Kumar and athletics coach Mr. Pramod Kumar Yadav conducted the Fit India Cyclothon program.
