ROCHESTER — Rochester Mayo had nine players record at least one point and five players record three or more points as the Spartans snapped a two-game losing skid in a big way, rolling past Red Wing 11-2 at Graham Arena.
Grace Kober made 11 saves for Mayo, which improves to 3-3-0 in the Big Nine Conference and 4-5-0 overall. Red Wing is 0-6-0, 0-10-0.
The Spartans led 2-0 after one period and 5-2 after two. They tacked on six goals in the third to pull away.
Sophomore forward Marley Smith led the way offensively, recording a hat trick and an assist for a four-point game. Smith had one goal in each period and now leads Mayo with seven goals this season.
Sophia Sather scored two goals and assisted on one, while Maddy Desjardins, Milania Black and Katie Cummings all had a goal and two assists.
Mayo is back in action at 7 p.m. Thursday at Owatonna.

OWATONNA — Rochester Century/John Marshall received another strong effort in goal from Isabella Scranton, but Owatonna’s defense held the Panthers in check in a 4-1 Big Nine Conference girls hockey victory.
Owatonna led 3-1 after one period, and kept Century/JM off the board the rest of the way.
Scranton was once again excellent in goal, making 40 saves, as the Panthers were outshot 44-9.
Kennedy Stewart scored for Century/JM, with assists from Katie Nelson and Olivia Gagnon.
Genevieve Froman scored two goals and assisted on one for Owatonna, while Lauren Busho scored one and assisted on two.
Owatonna improves to 4-1-0 in the Big Nine and 5-4-0 overall. Century/JM (3-5-0, 5-6-1) plays at the Bay Area Ice Bears at 8 p.m. Friday.
