One of India’s leading airlines Air India has announced a new discount program for students on domestic and international bookings on December 18. The program includes discounted airfare, additional baggage allowance, and a one-time free date change option, applicable worldwide.

Air India student discount: Domestic bookings

Students can now get a discount of up to 25 per cent on their Air India domestic flights. The airline listed the offers they can combine to unlock the discount.

While booking their tickets via the Air India website and app, students can select ‘Student’ in ‘Concession Type’ option in the booking widget. The airline is also offering up to Rs 400 off on UPI payments. For this, passengers will have to use the promo code ‘UPIPROMO’ at checkout.

Bookings through the app will entail zero convenience fee on domestic flights.

Additionally, students will receive an extra 10 kg baggage allowance per passenger. They will also have the option of a one-time free date change, with any applicable fare difference payable.

Eligibility

• Must be at least 12 years old on the date of travel.
• Must be enrolled in a full-time course with a minimum duration of one academic year.
• Must be attending an educational institution recognised, supported, or affiliated with a central/state government, educational board, or university.

Students will also be required to carry a valid ID card or acceptance letter from their institution or a valid Student Visa.

Air India student discount: International bookings

Even in case of international bookings, students can avail discounts on the base fare with Air India, along with various payment offers, extra baggage allowance and one free date change.

In this case as well, students will need to select ‘Student’ under ‘Concession Type’ while booking their tickets via app or website.

Use the promo code ‘UPIPROMO’ to get up to Rs 1200 off at checkout.

For destinations following the piece concept for baggage, students are allowed 2 pieces of luggage weighing up to 23 kg each in Economy and Premium Economy classes, and 2 pieces weighing up to 32 kg each in Business Class.

One complimentary date change is also allowed, with any fare difference payable.

Eligibility

• Aged between 12 and 30 years on the date of travel.
• Enrolled in a full-time course for a minimum of one academic year.
• Attending a recognised educational institution or an accredited school, university, or college.

Students must present a valid Student Visa, ID card, or an acceptance letter from their school, college, or university.
