A Magical Evening With Chanel At The Ballet ELLE
If there’s anything more magical than watching The Australian Ballet perform at the Sydney Opera House, is watching The Australian Ballet perform The Nutcracker at the Sydney Opera House.
The Nutcracker could not only be called the world’s most famous ballet, but also the most festive – given it explores through dance (and one girl’s vivid imagination) the magic that surrounds the night before Christmas. On Tuesday evenng, the house of Chanel took the opportunity to invite friends of the maison to an exclusive private performance to celebrate their continued partnership with The Australian Ballet, which began in 2020. As a Living Heritage Partner, Chanel has committed to preserving the history of The Australian Ballet, and also supporting the talent that is yet to emgerge from our national ballet corp.
The Australian Ballet’s Creative Director David Hallberg aptly noted when welcoming guests at Bennelong restaurant that there is truly nothing more “magical” than watching The Nutcracker during the holiday season. And magical the night was, with a guest list that included Australia’s brightest, and most stylish, talents from the film, fashion, music, literary and publishing industries.
Expats, presumably home for the holidays, included the recently engaged Phoebe Tonkin and actor Leila George mingled under the sails of the Opera House with Liam Hemsworth and partner Gabriella Brooks. Joining the well-dressed crowd were musicians Miguel and Budjerah, ELLE digital cover star Maia Mitchell, Tanzyn Crawford – who recently wrapped filming the latest Game of Thrones intallment A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms – and star of The Territory, Sam Corlett.
