In 2024, stars pulled out all of the stops when it came to vintage dressing. Kaia Gerber, Margot Robbie and Lily-Rose Depp, among others, dug into the archives of labels like Thierry Mugler, Givenchy and Chanel to serve sustainable looks.

While wearing archival fashions on the red carpet isn’t anything new, the trend persists as celebrities continue to seek out eco-friendly ways to make a style statement.

Zendaya, who made WWD’s list three times, had arguably the most viral look of the year in a cyborg-inspired jumpsuit from Mugler’s fall 1995 couture collection, which she wore at the London premiere of “Dune: Part Two.” The Emmy-winning actress made headlines again in May, when she sported two archival ensembles designed by John Galliano at the Met Gala.
