Software launched to facilitate automatic name transfer of pattas in Puducherry

The Puducherry government has launched a software application for the Directorate of Survey and Land Records for enabling automatic transfer of ‘pattas’ in the names of those who purchase lands.

According to an official release, the automatic name transfer of patta would be executed at the taluk offices in the Union Territory subject to the stipulated conditions during the registration of a sale deed. During registration, the Sub-Registrar will forward the applications for patta transfer to the concerned taluk office online.

Consequently, the public need not apply for manual transfer of patta. The software also ensures automatic mutation by the Tahsildar within a week’s time.

The initiative has been launched under the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme of the Central government.
