VADNAIS HEIGHTS — Gentry Academy scored on the first shift of Friday night’s girls hockey game at TCO Sports Garden.
That goal came 58 seconds into the game.
No. 1-ranked Dodge County controlled the other 50 minutes, 2 seconds.
The Wildcats shut out the Stars the rest of the way and rattled off five consecutive goals for a 5-1 victory.
Nora Carstensen scored two-and-a-half minutes after Gentry to tie it 1-1, then Kylie Meyer added the first of her two goals — on a power play with 2:58 to go in the first — to put the Wildcats up for good.
Maysie Koch made it 3-1 just 42 seconds later, then Meyer and Hannah Peterson scored 1:35 apart early in the third to cap the scoring.
Senior standout Ida Huber took care of the rest, stopping 16 of the 17 shots she faced in the game.
Dodge County is now 9-1-1 overall. It faces Chisago Lakes at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Crosstown Cup at Breck High School in Minneapolis.
