Ethiopia Hugely Invests in Peace, Stability Agenda in Horn of Africa: Ambassador Misganu – ENA English
Addis Ababa December 22/2024 (ENA)—Ethiopia is playing active role for peace and security in the horn of Africa by hugely investing on the agenda to resolving conflicts through peaceful negotiations and mediations, Foreign Affairs State Minister Ambassador Misganu Arga underlined.
As a crossroad of major international shipping lines, the Horn of Africa remains strategically important for global trade and politics. Hence, the peace and stability of the region is super important.
In an exclusive interview with the Ethiopian News Agency, Foreign Affairs State Minister Ambassador Misganu Arga noted as a country located in the Horn of Africa, Ethiopia is playing active role for security and stability of the region.
“The geographical location of Horn of Africa is an important element that links to the Arabian Gulf and also the wider continent of Africa, and also a big crossroad for the global commercial transaction that makes Horn of Africa, geographically, geopolitically, strategically important for the global politics and for the continent of Africa.”
Ethiopia’s core vital interest is promoting peace and stability in the Horn of Africa, he stated noting that “If we ensure peace and stability in the Horn of Africa, Ethiopia largely benefit from this equation.”
So cognizant of this fact, he added, Ethiopia has been hugely investing on peace and stability agenda by resolving conflicts through peaceful negotiation and mediation mentioning the country’s mediation role in Somalia, in South Sudan and Sudan.
“So the role of Ethiopia in the Horn of Africa is major and significant,” Ambassador Misganu explained reiterating Ethiopia’s unwavering commitment to bring regional integration through various diplomatic approach and infrastructure projects.
“We’ve connected our infrastructure with Djibouti, with road, with railway, with electricity and with water supply. And we have connected our electricity facility with Sudan and with Kenya and we’re also working to, again, sell electricity to Tanzania and Somalia.”
According to the State Minister, the region only can grow when everyone in the region is jointly collaborating and work together on integration agenda.
