‘India has skill, technology and manpower to build New Kuwait’: PM Modi- The Week
While addressing the Indian diaspora, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kuwait said that India has the skill, technology, innovation and manpower that is needed for the “new Kuwait”.
Modi visited Kuwait at the invitation of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Two countries are connected with the bonds of the heart, said Modi at the ‘Hala Modi’ event in Kuwait.

“India and Kuwait are located on two shores of the Arabian Sea; it’s not just diplomacy that connects us, but also bonds of the heart. Relationship between India and Kuwait is one of civilization, sea, affection, trade, and commerce,” he said at the event.
“Kuwait, through trade and innovation, wants to be a dynamic economy…India is also focusing on innovation and strengthening its economy,” he added.
This is the first time an Indian PM is visiting the Gulf nation in 43 years.
“Every year, hundreds of Indians come to Kuwait; you have added Indian touch to Kuwaiti society. You have filled Kuwait’s canvas with colours of Indian skills, mixed with the essence of India’s talent, technology and tradition,” said Modi.
Modi arrived in Kuwait on Saturday for a two-day official trip.
He praised the Indians in the country for their cooperation in development. “You all have come from different parts of India, but looking at all of you, it feels like a mini India has gathered here,” he said.
Bolstering defence and security cooperation is the key focus of the visit.
The Ministry of External Affairs also said discussions were underway with Kuwait for a bilateral investment treaty and a defence cooperation agreement.
