Russia will continue humanitarian electricity supplies to Abkhazia until the end of February 2025

Russia will continue humanitarian electricity supplies to Abkhazia until the end of February 2025, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

“This was done taking into account the crisis situation in the republic’s energy industry, which is caused, among other things, by the deterioration of local networks and uncontrolled cryptocurrency mining. It is obvious that allied relations imply a balance of mutual obligations. We believe that Sokhumi will also do its part in accordance with the above-mentioned documents, including in terms of harmonizing legislation to create the necessary conditions for Russian investments,” Maria Zakharova said.

According to her, “there is a widespread demand in Abkhazian society to strengthen the alliance with Moscow.”

“We hope that the elections scheduled for February 15, 2025 in Abkhazia will result in the election of a leader who will continue close cooperation with our country in terms of the progressive development of Abkhazia and bilateral relations,” Zakharova noted.
