No. 13 Men’s Ice Hockey Treks to Yale on Sunday

The No. 13 Boston University men’s ice hockey team will travel to New Haven, Connecticut, on Sunday to face Yale. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Sunday’s game will be streamed on ESPN+, with an audio-only broadcast located here. 

TERRIER TIDBITS

• Sunday will mark the Terriers’ final non-conference game until they face Harvard in the opening round of the Beanpot on Feb. 3.
• The Terriers are 9-6-1 overall after they closed the first semester with a 4-2 win at UMass on Dec. 11 and a 7-5 exhibition triumph over the U.S. National Under-18 Team on Dec. 13.
• BU will be without four players on Sunday, as Cole Eiserman, Cole Hutson, Brandon Svoboda and Tom Willander are all competing at the World Junior Championship.
• Hutson was the hero in that victory over UMass, as he tallied two straight third-period goals, tying the game with 11:11 to play before scoring the game-winner with 9:53 remaining in regulation.
• Juniors Devin Kaplan and Quinn Hutson also lit the lamp for BU against the Minutemen.
• Freshmen Alex Zetterberg (2g, 1a) and Kamil Bednarik (1g, 2a) recorded three points apiece against the U.S. Under-18 Team.
• Sixteen different Terriers have lit the lamp this season, led by Eiserman’s nine goals.

HISTORY WITH YALE

• BU and Yale met exactly one year ago in New Haven, marking the first game between the two schools since Dec. 13, 2016.
• The Terriers’ 6-1 win on Dec. 29, 2023, gave them a 33-31-3 all-time record against Yale, including an 11-6-1 record at Ingalls Rink.
• The teams first met on Feb. 13, 1924, with Yale posting its first of 20 straight victories against the Terriers in a 6-0 shutout on Bishop’s Pond in New Haven. 
• The two teams have played eight overtime games with BU holding a 4-1-3 edge. 
• There have been 10 shutouts in the series history and each team has five to its credit.
• BU is 9-1-2 in its last 12 games against Yale.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

• Yale hasn’t played since Nov. 29-30 when the Bulldogs were swept at LIU, which pushed their losing streak to three games.
• The Bulldogs are 0-4-0 at home this season, with their two wins coming at Colgate on Nov. 9 (4-3) and St. Lawrence on Nov. 22 (5-1).
• Those wins are the only two times this season that Yale has scored more than two goals in a game.
• Freshman Ronan O’Donnell leads Yale with seven points (4g, 3a) and is tied with classmate Donovan Frias for the team lead in goals (4).
• Frias (4g, 2a) is tied for second on the squad with six points, joining senior William Dineen (2g, 4a) and freshman assist leader Zach Wagnon (1g, 5a).
• Sophomore goaltender Jack Stark has started all eight of his appearances this season, posting a 2-5-1 record.
• He owns an .886 save percentage and a 3.50 goals-against average.
