Where and when to watch Samuthirakani’s film

Thiru Manickam, the recently released Tamil film starring actor-director Samuthirakani in the lead role, is currently running in theatres. While we had earlier reported that ZEE5 has bagged the streaming rights of the film, Thiru Manickam will begin streaming from January 31 onwards on the platform. It will also be available on OTTplay Premium.

Actor and filmmaker Samuthirakani starred in the 2024 Tamil film Thiru Manickam in the titular role. The film released in theatres for this weekend. Post the theatrical run, the film will be available on ZEE5. The OTT release date has been fixed as January 31. ZEE5 is one of the offerings of OTTplay Premium app as well.

Produced by GP Ravi Kumar, Chinta Gopala Krishna Reddy, and Raja Senthil under the banner GPRK CINEMAS, the film’s cinematography is handled by M Sukumar. The music is scored by Vishal Chandrasekar and SP Raja Sethupathi is in charge of the editing.

What is Thiru Manickam about?

Thiru Manickam is a family drama, written and directed by Nanda Periyasamy. The star cast includes actors Ananya, Bharathiraja, Thambi Ramaiah, Karunakaran, Chaams, Vadivukarasi, and Ilavarasu. The film is about the titular character who owns a lottery ticket shop somewhere on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. Known for his love towards his family and his righteous nature, his shop is visited by a poor old man who selects a few lottery tickets and reserves it as he goes to his home to get money. However, due to his financial problems, the old man does not return, while the ticket he selected wins a bumper prize. While the shopkeeper thinks the lottery rightfully belongs to the old man, his family coaxes him to think otherwise.
