Harley-Davidson And Hero MotoCorp Confirm New Model
Here in the U.S., Harley-Davidson
has a reputation for building
powerful cruisers
and big, country-crossing touring bikes. However, the Bar and Shield has been expanding its reach in other parts of the world, breaking into smaller displacement markets through partnerships with overseas manufacturers like Hero MotoCorp. Harley has yet to bring its
X440 single
stateside, and it seems that another brand-new model is on the horizon, tantalizingly out of reach for those of us in America.

Harley And Hero To Introduce Second Model
Harley-Davidson
Earlier this year, Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp expanded the X440 lineup to include a range of colorful liveries, though the motorcycle itself remained unchanged beneath the skin. Even still, it showed a sign of continued commitment between the American giant and its Indian partner. Naturally, speculation then turned to possible future variants like
scramblers
, whether that’d involve something as simple as swapping bars or a more dramatic overhaul.

How To Choose The Perfect Harley-Davidson Motorcycle
It’s easy to get lost in the world of Harley-Davidson’s sizable collection, but help is at hand.
And now Hero has confirmed the development of a new bike through a statement made in a BSE filing.
“This is to inform that the Company has extended its partnership with Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Inc. in order to expand the Harley-Davidson X440 into new variants as well as to develop a new motorcycle.”
While we don’t get any details regarding how this model will take shape, the BSE’s included disclosures confirm some critical parts of the continued partnership. Along with “contract manufacturing,” it also stipulates “new variants” of the X440 and the development of a “new motorcycle.” Interestingly, it does cite “both domestic and select international markets.” Based on how things went with the X440, though, we wouldn’t bank on it coming stateside — at least not anytime soon.
A Collaboration Built On The X440’s Success
Harley-Davidson
Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp first came together in 2023 with the X440, and the model made waves at the time of its debut. For its price (229,000 rupees in India or roughly $2,750 here in the States), the little bike boasted a respectable spec sheet — especially with regard to
other sub-500cc motorcycles
in its class.
The air-cooled 440cc fuel-injected single makes some 27 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 28 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. While the KYB forks and shocks were non-adjustable, the bike benefited from disc brakes front and rear and even some dual-channel ABS as standard.

A shiny, new Harley-Davidson for under $25,000? Turns out there are quite a few of them.
Arguably more impressive, though, was the tech. The X440 launched with full LED lighting and a TFT dash that featured phone connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation as well as input for music, calls, and messages. For context: even
Triumph’s small-displacement offerings
lacked those features at the time of their debut.
Of course, if Harley-Davidson and Hero were ever to bring this collaboration to the United States, it’s highly unlikely that they’d be priced so affordably. Nevertheless, Harley-Davidson could use some more
entry-level motorcycles
, and we could see something like the X440 (or its future sibling) being a great choice for new riders and training programs.
