Tourists seek new ways to celebrate after Hogmanay cancellations
New Year’s Eve
Tourists have scrambled to find a way to welcome in the new year after the main Hogmanay celebrations were cancelled on Monday because of bad weather.
The street party and fireworks display over Edinburgh Castle were cancelled owing to a Met Office yellow weather warning, which initially covered most of Scotland throughout Hogmanay before being cut back to the Highlands and Moray.
A yellow weather warning for wind now covers most of Scotland and northern England until 11pm on Hogmanay, with winds predicted to reach up to 70mph.
