‘Logon ne kaha ki aisi filmein chhod…’

The year 2024 was not a great one for Akshay Kumar, in terms of box office numbers. His films Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Sarfira, and Khel Khel Mein hit theatres last year and all of them couldn’t perform well at the box office. Interestingly, hit films like Singham Again and Stree 2 also featured Akshay but in a cameo role. On Sunday, January 5, Akshay Kumar was seen gracing the trailer launch event of his upcoming film, Sky Force, where he broke his silence on Sarfira’s poor collection. He went on to call it a ‘best film’.

Akshay Kumar on having a tough 2024

During the trailer launch event of Sky Force in Mumbai, Akshay was seen with Veer Pahariya, who is making his acting debut. While speaking to the media, Khiladi Kumar reacted to having a tough 2024, due to multiple box office failures. He said that it’s not happening for the first time, but he believes that one must keep on working hard, despite the failures. He said, “Mujhe kai log aake bolte hain ki aap 1-2 films kar lo bas maximum. Main bolta hu ki main agar kaam kar sakta hu, toh kyu na karu? Maine apna career banaya hai is base pe, puri mehnat aur lagan se. Kai logon ne ye bhi kaha ki aisi filmein chhod do karna, you know content-based films. Lekin main nahi chhodna chahta.”

Further, the actor said that he was ‘proud’ of his film Sarfira even though it didn’t work out well. Akshay added, “I am still saying it. It is one of my best films.” The film also starred Paresh Rawal and Radhikka Madan. The film only collected Rs 24.85 crore at the domestic box office, according to Sacnilk. If you wish to watch the film on OTT, you can stream it on Disney+ Hotstar.

Meanwhile, Akshay and Veer’s Sky Force is directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur. It is a tribute to India’s unsung heroes, celebrating their courage, sacrifice, and camaraderie. The film is all set to hit theatres on January 24, 2025.
