Worries over the weakness of the economy, labour market reforms, tax rises and tariffs are jostling for attention, as are concerns over the government’s response. James Watt, co-founder of the craft brewer BrewDog, sounded the alarm last week when he wrote on LinkedIn: “Labour inherited a mess — there’s no denying that. But their one job was to not make the precarious situation worse. But somehow, they managed to do just that in quite spectacular style.”
