Libya sends humanitarian aid to Syria

A plane sent from the Libyan city of Misrata, carrying 34 tons of humanitarian aid to the Syrian people arrived at Damascus Airport on last Saturday. 

A statement issued by the Misrata Municipality stated that a delegation from the Libyan Red Crescent and members of the Misrata Municipality headed to Syria on a plane loaded with humanitarian aid that took off from the city’s airport.

The statement added that officials from the Syrian Red Crescent and the Libyan embassy in Damascus received the humanitarian aid plane and the Libyan delegation at Damascus International Airport.

Syria TV said that the humanitarian aid plane that arrived from Libya to Damascus carried 34 tons of food and health supplies.

A high-level Libyan delegation, headed by Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi, visited Syria, and met with the leader of the new Syrian administration, Ahmed Al-Sharaa.

The delegation accompanying Al-Lafi included Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation Ali Al-Abed, and Director of the Military Intelligence Department, Major General Mahmoud Hamza. During the meeting, Al-Lafi conveyed the support of the Government of National Unity for the Syrian people.
