Nick Saban voted to College Football Hall of Fame 2025 class

Nick Saban, who led LSU to a national championship in 2003 before going on to win six more titles at Alabama, will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in December.

Saban was surprised with the news Friday on College GameDay prior to the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Cotton Bowl between Ohio State and Texas.

Saban retired a year ago Friday after winning 297 games in 28 seasons as a head coach.

He arrived at LSU prior to the 2000 season from Michigan State. In five seasons in Baton Rouge, Saban went 48-16, winning two Southeastern Conference titles and defeating Oklahoma in the January 2004 Sugar Bowl for the Tigers’ first national title since 1958.

After leaving LSU following the 2004 season to go to the NFL as head coach of the Miami Dolphins, he returned to the college game two years later and took things to another level at Alabama.

Saban led the Crimson Tide to national titles in 2009, 2011-12, 2015, 2017 and 2020.

The rest of the College Football Hall of Fame class will be announced on Wednesday.
