VinFast to make its India debut at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 – Car News
The upcoming VinFast VF7 and VF9 could initially be launched in India as fully-imported CBUs sometime early this year.
Vietnamese multinational automotive brand VinFast has finally confirmed its entry to India officially. The company will set foot in India with two pure electric vehicles (EV)– VF7 and VF9— which will be showcased at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The carmaker has also teased the same on its social media handles.
Almost a year ago, Vinfast inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu Government, as per which the former will invest Rs 4,000 crore for the development of an EV manufacturing facility in the state. We expected Vinfast to land in India with the VF3 subcompact SUV since it was already patented by the Vietnamese EV manufacturer in India.
However, the Vietnamese automaker has decided to bring two premium models from its global portfolio. Let us look at each of the models and what they have to offer.
VinFast VF7
A 5-seater fully-electric SUV, the VF7 measures 4,545 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,635.75 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. Internationally, it is available in two trims: Eco and Plus, both featuring a 75.3 kWh battery pack. The Eco trim comes with a single motor setup powering the front wheels which produces an output of 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque. This variant claims a range of 450 km on a single charge.

On the other hand, the VF7 Plus comes with a dual-motor setup powering all four wheels, and claiming a single-charge range of 431 km. This powertrain returns a peak output of 348 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. In terms of features, the VF7 offers either a 12.9-inch (Eco) or a 15-inch (Plus) touchscreen infotainment system with OTA updates, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance system.
VinFast VF9
The VF9 is VinFast’s flagship electric SUV which comes with either a 6-seat or a 7-seat cabin layout, the former offering captain seats. The VF9 measures 5,119 mm in length, 200 mm in width, and 1,694 mm in height. The full-size electric SUV has a wheelbase of 3148 mm. Like VF7, the VF9 is also available in two trims internationally: Eco and Plus.

Both variants are equipped with a 123 kWh battery pack that propels a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup that pushes out 402 bhp and 620 Nm of peak torque. The VF9 can hit a top speed of 200 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.6 seconds and 6.7 seconds, for Eco and Plus variants, respectively. The Eco trim promises a range of 531 km whereas the Plus trim claims a range of 468 km on a single charge.
Features included in the VF9 include LED headlights and taillights, auto adjustable and heated ORVMs, ventilated and heated front rear seats with massage function, three-zone climate control, head-up display, 15.6 inch touchscreen infotainment display, auto dimming IRVMs and more. Safety in VF9 will be taken care of by 11 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, and ADAS features.
