Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading carmaker, ended 2024 on a strong note with total sales of 1,30,115 units in December, marking a 24.18% year-on-year (YoY) growth compared to 1,04,778 units in December 2023. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the sales performance of Maruti’s models for December 2024:

Brezza retained its stronghold in the subcompact SUV segment with 17,336 units sold, registering a robust 34.97% YoY growth over 12,844 units in December 2023. Brezza contributed 13.32% to Maruti’s total sales in December 2024. WagonR posted exceptional YoY growth of 101.71%, with sales surging to 17,303 units from 8,578 units in December 2023. Its share in Maruti’s total sales stood at 13.30%, making it one of the brand’s best performers.

Dzire compact sedan saw a solid 18.28% YoY growth with 16,573 units sold compared to 14,012 units in December 2023, contributing 12.74% to the overall sales. Ertiga sold 16,056 units in December 2024, up by 23.75% from 12,975 units in December 2023. It held a 12.34% share of total sales, reinforcing its position as a family favourite.
EECO saw a 16.38% YoY growth, selling 11,678 units compared to 10,034 units in December 2023, accounting for 8.98% of total sales. Fronx recorded sales of 10,752 units, reflecting a 10.94% YoY growth over 9,692 units in December 2023. It captured 8.26% of Maruti’s December sales. Swift witnessed a dip in sales with 10,421 units sold in December 2024, down by 12.01% compared to 11,843 units in December 2023, contributing 8.01% to the overall share.

Baleno also saw a decline in sales with 9,112 units sold, down 14.59% from 10,669 units in December 2023, accounting for 7.00% of the total sales. Alto posted a massive 196.76% YoY growth with 7,410 units sold compared to 2,497 units in December 2023, contributing 5.69% to the total.
Grand Vitara SUV saw steady performance with 7,093 units sold, a modest 1.50% YoY growth from 6,988 units in December 2023, holding a 5.45% sales share. XL6 recorded sales of 2,487 units, marking an 11.73% YoY growth over 2,226 units in December 2023, contributing 1.91% to total sales. Jimny posted an impressive 50.68% YoY growth with 1,100 units sold compared to 730 units in December 2023, accounting for 0.85% of the total sales.
Maruti Cars With Under 1k Sales
Invocto sold 825 units, a 64.34% YoY growth over 502 units in December 2023, capturing a 0.63% share in total sales. Ignis recorded significant growth of 91.07% YoY with 749 units sold compared to 392 units in December 2023, contributing 0.58% to total sales. Celerio saw remarkable growth with 748 units sold, up 202.83% from 247 units in December 2023, holding a 0.57% sales share. Ciaz sedan reported a slight decline in sales with 464 units sold in December 2024, down by 5.11% compared to 489 units in December 2023, contributing 0.36% to the total.
S-Presso registered a sharp decline of 86.67%, with only 8 units sold compared to 60 units in December 2023, holding a minimal 0.01% share. With total sales of 1,30,115 units, Maruti Suzuki not only achieved impressive YoY growth but also showcased strong performance across a diverse range of vehicles, reaffirming its position as a market leader in India’s automotive industry. In the coming weeks, Maruti will launch their first electric car in India, eVitara. It will take on the Curvv EV, Creta EV, etc.
