Resources should be handled by society, says M.V. Govindan
CPI(M) State secretary M.V. Govindan has said that neoliberalism along with globalisation and privatisation is the result of the capitalist crisis across the world. Inaugurating a seminar on ‘Neoliberalism and Kerala’s Resistance’ as a pre-event of the forthcoming State Convention of the Kerala State Teachers’ Association (KSTA) in Kozhikode on Monday, he said the global scenario where the extreme right wing had dominance was adding to the situation, and that it would result in an aggravated case of unemployment across the world in no time.
“The capitalist ideology is that the government should not interfere in the market or else the system would collapse. We broke the ideology by coming up with public sector enterprises. But now, the situation is being reversed as public sector enterprises are being privatised one by one,” he said, adding that allowing society to handle raw materials instead of restricting them to the private sector was the only solution to the capitalist crisis.
Presiding over the event, Keluettan Study and Research Centre director K.T. Kunhikannan said the Modi government’s alienation of Kerala was against federal ideology.
Economist R. Ramkumar virtually took part in the session that followed. KSTA State president D. Sudheesh, secretary K. Badarunnisa, vice president K.C. Mahesh, former MLA A. Pradeep Kumar and CPI(M) district secretary P. Mohanan were present at the event.
