Revealed – West Ham fans prepare to invade Millwall for FA Cup tie and Premier League plans for players to wear bodycams during matches: INSIDE SPORT

Millwall take on Dagenham and Redbridge in the FA Cup on Monday and there are growing concerns that a number of West Ham fans have snapped up tickets for the away end at the Den.

The Hammers have not faced their old foes since 2012 and there have been, perhaps surprisingly, no restrictions on who can buy tickets.

Last week, more than 1,300 had been sold by Dagenham and Redbridge, the National League side with close links to West Ham, and Met Police — who deemed the match low risk — are aware of the situation.

Meanwhile, it is thought large numbers of Manchester United fans cheered on the Class of 92’s Salford City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors usually have crowds of 2,800, but large sections of 5,000-strong support sang a range of United songs.

There were no reports of major trouble.

Premier League plans TV overhaul

Premier League clubs will meet on Friday to fine tune changes that broadcasters hope will revolutionise TV coverage.

The new arrivals include body cams on players during warm-ups and walk outs, filming from inside dressing rooms and half-time interviews with either a player, manager or coach as they leave the pitch, or a coach as they return for a second half.

The measures also feature interviews with players after they have been substituted.

Clubs will iron out detail around the wording surrounding the additions, which will take place in a set number of games, and will discuss issues matters such as who decides which player is chosen.

LA awaits Olympics amid wildfire turmoil

The Olympic world is watching anxiously as Los Angeles, host of the 2028 Games, continues to be ravaged by wildfires.

With a watertight host city contract in place (as Tokyo found to its cost during Covid), it will be interesting to see how the seven IOC presidential candidates answer questions on this topic when they gather in Lausanne in two weeks.

There are also concerns that spreading fires could threaten the venues — including the 100-year-old Riviera Golf Club, which is five miles from the Palisades fire and within the evacuation zone.

Meanwhile, a delegation from Team GB currently in California inspecting their San Francisco-based pre-Games training camp was due to be in some of the LA districts most affected by the fires later this week.

However, Inside Sport understands they quickly handed back accommodation they were due to stay in to support the rehousing of affected LA residents.

Sir Gareth stays (mostly) silent

The decision to award former England boss Gareth Southgate a knighthood met with a mixed reaction which may well have stung the man himself.

Usually those involved tend to carry out media appearances but that has not been the case with Southgate, who took his country to two major finals.

Instead Southgate, a private figure, took to LinkedIn to post his gratitude and joke about how his title at home remains the same. He has not spoken about it since.

Stewart eyes Rangers revamp

New Rangers chief executive Patrick Stewart has swiftly set about revamping the ailing club’s operation off the pitch.

Aside from announcing a root and branch review of the football department, the former Manchester United official has already brought in Greig Mailer, from Brentford, to head up club communications.

Mailer, who worked with Stewart at Old Trafford, is another grown-up in the building at Ibrox.

Wednesday seek wisdom with new role

The Owls are hunting wisdom. Sheffield Wednesday have raised eyebrows with an advert seeking a ‘business sales and marketing psychologist’.

The selected candidate will ‘apply psychological principles to improve business revenue through the study of consumer habits and decision-making processes’.

They will also need ‘emotional intelligence’.

WSL looks to prioritise player welfare

While some believe men’s football often drags its heels when it comes to issues of player welfare, the women’s game is showing it is prepared to think differently as it embarks on a new professional era.

Speaking in the Sports Industry Report 2025, released on Tuesday, the head of the WSL, Nikki Doucet, says she is exploring ideas with specialist women’s health organisations to work on studies and educational programmes that will improve training, inform product development and prevent injuries.

Doucet believes it can give women inside and outside the game access to better guidance on how to lead active lifestyles.
