New BCCI Policy Restricts Chefs, Nannies And Families Traveling With Players

NEW DELHI (ANI)- After the acrimonious Australia tour and loss, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has introduced comprehensive guidelines for India’s cricket team, aiming to improve discipline, streamline logistics, and strengthen team unity.

As part of the updated travel policy, players are required to travel with the team for all matches and practice sessions, emphasizing collective cohesion. Separate travel arrangements involving family are discouraged, with exceptions requiring prior approval from the head coach and chairman of the selection committee. Players are known to have their own private cars.

Personal staff such as managers, chefs, or assistants are restricted from accompanying players on tours unless explicitly approved by the BCCI. Again, players were known to travel with huge staff that included personal chefs, security and nannies.

To address logistical challenges, the BCCI has also imposed strict baggage limits. Players on long overseas tours exceeding 30 days can carry up to 150 kg across five pieces, including suitcases and kit bags. For shorter tours, the limit is set at 120 kg with four pieces. Support staff have lower limits, capped at 80 kg for longer tours and 60 kg for shorter ones. Excess baggage costs will need to be borne by individuals, ensuring compliance with these measures.

Family visits are regulated under the new guidelines to balance personal well-being with team commitments. Players on overseas tours lasting more than 45 days can host their partners and children under 18 for one visit per series, limited to two weeks. The BCCI will cover shared accommodation costs during this period, while all other expenses will be the player’s responsibility. Visits must be coordinated with the coach, captain, and operations management.

Additionally, players must remain with the team until the scheduled conclusion of a tour, even if matches finish early. This rule aims to strengthen team bonding and maintain consistent dynamics throughout the series.
