Subway focusing on accessibility and regional flavor adaptation for prudent growth in India, ET BrandEquity
Global quick-service restaurant chain (QSR) Subway is focusing on accessibility and regional flavor adaptation to cater to consumers in India, Tarun Bhasin, CEO of Culinary Brands, the master franchisee for Subway in India told ETRetail.
“Our strategy revolves around building accessible neighborhood stores, utilizing scientific algorithms to identify high-potential locations in metros and tier-2 & 3 cities. This approach ensures Subway’s freshly made-to-order sandwiches reach a broader customer base,” Bhasin shared.
On the company’s outlook, Bhasin said the company has a positive outlook for the short term, with a focus on prudent growth. In the long term, India growth story remains intact for Subway, and sustained expansion is anticipated.
Last year, the QSR chain crossed 900 stores mark in India with a presence in more than 160 cities. It has opened 100 stores in the calendar year 2024 in the country.
Earlier in November 2024, in a chat with ETRetail, John Chidsey, Global CEO of Subway said the company plans to double its store count to over 1,700 stores in India over the next 5-6 years.
