Planetarium, modern regional science centre to be set up in Raichur
A high-level meeting chaired by Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science, and Technology N.S. Boseraju has resolved to prepare a proposal for the construction of a state-of-the-art planetarium and a modern regional science centre in Raichur city.
The Minister emphasised the priority of establishing science centres in every district across the State and directed that the construction of the Raichur Regional Science Centre be expedited.
He instructed the architectural team to present a design for the science centre within 90 days, prepare a detailed project report (DPR), and commence work promptly. He also called for the steps to propose the construction of a fully equipped planetarium at the Raichur science centre.
Science centres
In addition, the upcoming Budget would allocate land for setting up science centres in Kolar, Chitradurga, Ramanagara, and Vijayanagar districts. Efforts to operationalise pending science centres in Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu, and Belagavi would also be accelerated, the Minister said.
Plans to upgrade the Dr. H. Narasimhaiah Science Centre at Gauribidanur to an international-level facility were also discussed during the meeting. Mr. Boseraju said sufficient land was available for this purpose, and a local committee would be formed to oversee land acquisition and necessary actions in consultation with the district in-charge Minister.
