Tornos News | Travel + Leisure: Two Greek beaches in 15 places with cleanest waters in the world
Two Greek beaches are among the 15 places in the world with the cleanest waters (lakes, sea, coasts), according to the major travel magazine Travel + Leisure.
In particular, the magazine highlights Egremni Beach in Lefkada and Prassa Beach in Kimolos.
For Egremni, Travel + Leisure reports that, anyway, it is difficult to find a beach on the island of Lefkada that does not have a stunning view of the crystal clear Ionian Sea, however Egremni, about an hour’s drive from Athens, is a particularly impressive beach, accessible by sea or after hiking and climbing 300 steps.
For Kimolos Beach, it says it is known for its clear waters and white sand, often attributed by locals to the island’s history as a chalk mine. The 250-meter-long stretch of sand is accessible via a one-hour ferry ride from the nearby Cycladic island of Milos, followed by a short drive from Kimolos’ main pier.
Near the concrete pier at the southern end of the beach, you’ll find warm thermal waters, while on the northern side, also called Agios Georgios Beach, you’ll have the best view of the Aegean Sea.
The other 15 places with the cleanest water in the world are…
Ambergris Caye, Belize
Palawan, Philippines
Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia
Maldives
Crater Lake, Oregon
Blue Lagoon, Portland, Jamaica
Devil’s Bay, Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands
Five-Flower Lake, Jiuzhaigou National Park, China
