Vishal and Sundar C film yet to finish first week but is highest grossing Tamil film for this Pongal

Madha Gaja Raja, the Tamil film which released for Pongal on January 12, starring actor Vishal in the lead role, has made the most out of all the festival releases in Tamil. As of Friday, the film has made Rs 28 crore so far with its six days of theatrical run, as per the Sacnilk report.

Madha Gaja Raja is a recently released Tamil film starring Vishal in the lead role. The film hit theatres on January 12, after being kept unreleased for over a decade due to financial issues. Upon its release, Madha Gaja Raja became the instant favourite of audience for this festive season.

Madha Gaja Raja has collected Rs 28 crore, and is way past the other Tamil releases for Pongal. The commercial potboiler is helmed by filmmaker Sundar C. It is to be noted that Madha Gaja Raja has released only in Tamil and has single handedly managed to make it to one-fourth of the 100-crore club.

The film also stars Anjali and Varalaxmi as female leads, with an ensemble star cast including Santhanam, Sonu Sood, Nithin Sathya, late Manivannan and Manobala, Sadagopan Ramesh and others. Though the film received mixed reviews, Madha Gaja Raja is celebrated for Santhanam’s comedy.

Vishal, who played the lead role in Madha Gaja Raja, took part at the success event of the film which was held recently in Chennai. The actor, who expressed his excitement over the film’s success, announced that he will soon be collaborating with directors Gautham Menon and Ajay Gnanamuthu for new projects. He also said that Thupparivalan 2 is also in the making.

Madha Gaja Raja is running in cinemas near you. Vijay Antony has scored the music and Gemini Film Circuit has produced the film.
