Bajaj Finance, Airtel partner for digital financial services – Industry News
In a collaboration that could transform the last-mile delivery, Bharti Airtel and Bajaj Finance have forged a partnership to create one of India’s largest digital platforms for financial services.
Airtel’s 375 million customers can now access most of Bajaj Finance’s retail financial offerings using its 1.2-million-strong distribution network.
The products will be offered first on the Airtel Thanks App and later through its network of stores. In a phased rollout, up to 10 financial products will be offered in the current calendar year.
Two products have been launched as pilots on the Airtel Thanks App. Another four — gold loans, business loans, a co-branded Insta EMI card and personal loans — will be available to Airtel customers by March. Co-branded financial products such as the Airtel-Bajaj Finserv Insta EMI Card will also be launched.
The partnership combines Airtel’s digital platforms and omni-channel capabilities with Bajaj Finance’s suite of 27 product lines, AI-driven strategy, strong underwriting strengths, 5,000 branches and 70,000 field agents.
Gopal Vittal, vice chairman and MD, Bharti Airtel, said the combined reach, scale and distribution strength will help the companies succeed in the marketplace. Airtel Finance was being built as a strategic asset for the group and Airtel will continue to invest in and grow the business, Vittal said. “Today, we are trusted by over 1 million customers and our vision is to make Airtel Finance a one-stop shop for all the financial needs of our customers.”
Rajeev Jain, managing director, Bajaj Finance, said the partnership not only leverages India’s digital infrastructure for inclusive growth, but also brings together the expertise and reach of two of India’s leading brands and enables millions to access financial services, even in remote areas.
