Markets crash over 1% led by Zomato’s 11% plunge; banking stocks drag 

Share prices of UltraTech Cement and HCL Technologies were the only gainers among the BSE Sensex stocks.

Among the major losers were shares of Zomato Ltd., Adani Ports, NTPC, ICICI Bank, and State Bank of India.

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty ended sharply lower after opening higher on Monday. The Sensex closed 1.60 per cent or 1,235.08 points down at 75,838.36, while the Nifty ended 1.37 per cent or 320.10 points lower at 23,024.65.

Top gainers

UltraTech Cement was the top Sensex gainer, rising 0.76 per cent to close at ₹10,705.05. HCL Technologies followed, gaining 0.49 per cent to close at ₹1,804.50.

Top losers

Zomato led the losses with a steep decline of 10.92 per cent to close at ₹214.65. Adani Ports fell by 3.74 per cent to ₹1,106.10, while NTPC dropped 3.51 per cent to end at ₹324.25.

ICICI Bank shares declined significantly, falling 2.98 per cent to close at ₹1,196.10. State Bank of India saw a decline of 2.57 per cent, ending at ₹759.00.
