Salim Kumar criticizes extreme violent movies, says “Good comedy movies are lacking” | Malayalam Movie News

(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) While the action flick ‘Marco’, ‘Rifle Club’, ‘Pani’ and others are raking in good numbers at the box office, the legendary actor Salim Kumar has shared his views on delivering extreme violent films in Mollywood. He also said that good comedy films are currently lacking in the Malayalam film industry.

During an interaction at an event conducted by Malayala Manorama, Salim Kumar voiced his criticism on new-age directors who fail to deliver good comedy movies and depend on executing extreme violent flicks in the name of entertainment.

“Name one good comedy film that happened recently. I will definitely say that the answer is no. There were numerous good comedy films back in the day, now the industry lacks good comedy films that really make you laugh,” said Salim Kumar during the interaction.
About the recent comedy films like ‘Premalu’, ‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’, Salim Kumar said that these films lack genuine humor which existed in earlier films in Mollywood. “It’s been long since I watched a good comedy movie and laughed. There may be several counter-arguments to this, but I stand on my opinion that these new movies are just rehashing old comedies,” Salim Kumar said.
Salim Kumar further criticized new generation filmmakers for not being able to create a new wave in comedy. He further passed his views on violent films that were released recently and said that these movies showcase violence to their maximum which he referred to as a butcher shop.
Salim Kumar also said that even though the new artists are exceptional at delivering action and other stuff, the majority of them fail to deliver comedy.
