Motor Oil Acquisition of HELECTOR Approved by Commission
The Hellenic Competition Commission has given the green light for the acquisition of HELECTOR by Motor Oil.
The Plenary of the Commission unanimously approved, under Article 8 of the relevant law, the merger published on August 2, 2024. The decision concerns the acquisition of sole control over “HELECTOR S.A. – ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL APPLICATIONS” by “MANETIAL LIMITED.”
MANETIAL is a Cypriot holding company, fully owned by MOTOR OIL (HELLAS) S.A., the parent company of the MOH Group, and the sole shareholder of THALIS ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES S.A.
THALIS is primarily engaged in the construction and management of facilities for the treatment of non-hazardous solid and liquid waste. To a lesser extent, it is also involved in the construction of energy production facilities, as well as the generation and supply of energy from waste, including the collection and utilization of biogas from landfills.
The MOH Group, in addition to its core activities in energy production, trading, and retail supply, has recently focused on expanding operations within the circular economy framework.
HELECTOR and its subsidiaries specialize in constructing waste management and recycling facilities, providing related services (including operations management for such facilities), and generating electricity from Renewable Energy Sources (RES).
The approval marks a significant step in the strategic consolidation of energy and environmental management sectors, aligning with Motor Oil’s broader objectives in sustainable development.
