Rosetown ramps up to close music festival registrations – SwiftCurrentOnline.com
Entry deadlines are right around the corner for the 96th Rosetown & District Music Festival, an annual showcase of musical talent and a chance to hear from seasoned adjudicators.
Local bands, music students, choirs, and more have until Saturday, January 25 to register for the music festival coming up in a couple of months.
Claire Seibold, president of the Rosetown & District Music Festival Committee, noted that this year the music festival will run from March 24 to April 3 with an awards ceremony on the final day.
“It’s open to all instruments, piano, guitar, and more,” she explained. “We follow the provincial syllabus, there’s classes for everyone and every type of instrument.”
Entry fees for a solo performance are $15 each, duets & trios are $20, and ensemble entries are $25 each.
Band workshops are also available with a $25 fee for a thirty-minute session or $50 for an hour.
“We will have piano the first week, then we have vocal, speech arts, and musical theatre from March 31 to April 1, and we have an instrumental day on April 2,” Seibold shared. “Our final concert will be on Thursday, April 3 where our awards are handed out.”
Successful competitors may even be able to take home a scholarship if they perform in two classes of the same discipline and reside in the Rosetown District or are a student of a music teacher in the district.
Those interested in registering last minute can do so online through the Saskatchewan Music Festival Association’s website.
Sponsorships for scholarships are also open until January 25, for more information visit the Rosetown & District Music Festival Association on Facebook or call Felice Mourre at (306) 831 – 6007.
