Manikandan’s hilarious family drama makes decent numbers on day of release

Kudumbasthan, the 2025 Tamil film starring actor Manikandan in the lead role, is currently running in theatres, and has opened to positive reception from critics and audience alike. The film, on its first day, has collected Rs 0.80 crore, as per reports.

Actor Manikandan is continuing his success streak after Good Night and Lover, with the recently released film Kudumbasthan. A family drama laced with humour and emotions; the film released in theatres on January 24 to positive feedback. It is directed by Rajeshwar Kalisamy in his directorial debut.

As per the Sacnilk report, Kudumbasthan has collected Rs 0.80 crore on day one. With a positive word of mouth, the film is expected to have rise in collections and audience turnout for the weekend. Kudumbasthan is written and directed by Rajeshwar Kalisamy who penned the script and screenplay along with actor Prasanna Balachandran. The latter also plays an important role in the film.

Kudumbasthan’s cast also includes Sanvee Megghana in her Tamil debut, Guru Somasundaram, director R Sundarajan, Prasanna Balachandran, Kanakamma, Jenson Diwakar and others.

The film revolves around a young man who is the sole breadwinner of his family. After a tiff at his office and refusal to apologise, he gets fired from the job. The rest of the film is about how the man manages the family expenses and responsibilities.

With healthy humour and backed by excelling performances by the cast, Kudumbasthan comes out as a strong content driven film for Tamil cinema.
