Plot
The story revolves around a young woman who is navigating the complexities of contemporary dating in a world that is increasingly reliant on technology. Seeking companionship and excitement, she tries out a cutting-edge virtual reality dating app that promises a unique, immersive experience.
Once inside this digital realm, she enters a stylized recreation of the 1950s “aunty bar.” It is a social hotspot of the past where people gathered to drink, dance, and connect. The aesthetic of this world contrasts sharply with the sterile and detached nature of modern technology.
Here, the ambiance is warm, nostalgic, and alive with the charm of old-world romance. The protagonist encounters a variety of intriguing characters within this VR space. Including one whose presence brings depth and intrigue to the narrative. As she interacts with these virtual personas, she finds herself reflecting on her own desires, fears, and expectations when it comes to love and connection.
The film deftly juxtaposes the romantic ideals of the past with the skepticism and disillusionment of the present. It questions whether true intimacy can exist in a world dominated by digital facades and curated identities.
