He states that the player’s personal terms are at an advanced stage and will soon be concluded with Atlanta United
The Sky Sports man says that Miguel Almiron deal “…has become protracted due to additional layers of procedure required at the US-end for a ‘Designated Player’ transfer.”
Keith Downie adding that once this final paperwork is completed, Miguel Almiron will then undergo his medical.
Eddie Howe asked after the Southampton match about Miguel Almiron, who had been linked with a move back to Atlanta, a late sub when replacing Anthony Gordon and serenaded by the NUFC fans after the final whistle – Saturday 25 January:
“It wasn’t necessarily a farewell.
“It wasn’t planned.
“Just something instinctive, with the supporters singing his name.
“For everything that he’s given me and the football club, I thought it was only right he shared that with the supporters.”

Almrion takes applause of NUFC fans after encouragement from Howe, but head coach says: “It wasn’t planned. It was just the crowd were very much embracing him & giving him a lot of love. I’m not saying it’s a goodbye, we don’t know what’s going to happen, I just thought it was… pic.twitter.com/eoWtghQPYV

Eddie Howe was asked about the Miguel Almiron situation on Friday, during his pre-Southampton press conference – Friday 24 January:
“I think Miggy’s head has been very, very solidly here.
“He has been brilliant in training this week.
“I have seen not one moment where I thought, oh, I need to address this, or speak to him, or have a deeper conversation.
“I think we are both aware of the situation.
“Yes, there is interest in him from other clubs.
“There is potential, a chance he could leave before the window closes, but until that moment and if that moment never arrives, he’s still a valuable member of the squad.
“We love him to bits.
“He has got a great energy and character that has never changed for a second.
“He has been the ultimate professional and let’s see what happens.”
