V.I. SCHOOL SPORTS ROUNDUP: Hawks, Lady Hawks open STTJIAA season with wins over Hurricanes | Sports
MONDAY’S RESULTS Varsity Boys Basketball
Charlotte Amalie High School 52, Antilles School 16: The Hawks kicked off the 2025 St. Thomas-St. John Interscholastic Athletic Association league season with a dominating victory over the Hurricanes.
Chakeem Dore and KVaundre Vanterpool scored a game-high 11 points each for Charlotte Amalie High (1-0), which had 10 of its 11 players score while holding Antilles School (0-1) to single-digit scoring in all four quarters.
The defensive effort allowed the Hawks to pull out to a 36-10 lead at the halftime break, and extend their lead from there.
Dillen Webbe led the Hurricanes — who had just four players score against CAHS — with eight points.
Up next: The varsity teams return to action Wednesday, with Ivanna Eudora Kean High School hosting Virgin Islands Montessori School and International Academy.
Charlotte Amalie High School 49, Antilles School 9: The Lady Hawks opened St. Thomas-St. John IAA league play with a runaway victory over the Lady Hurricanes.
Alanya Jackson scored a game-high 14 points and Lisdarli De La Cruz added 10 points for Charlotte Amalie High (1-0), which led 25-5 at the halftime break.
Grace Loewenstein led Antilles School (0-1) with six points.
Up next: The Lady Hurricanes return to the court Wednesday, taking on Ivanna Eudora Kean High School at Kean High’s Digna Wheatley Gymnasium. Game time is 4 p.m.
