A GiveOrcas thank you, from Music Advocacy Group | Letter
Thank you to the Orcas Island community for supporting Music Advocacy Group’s Holiday GiveOrcas grant request! With your generous support, we raised $14,200 (and then some!) to purchase new instruments and equipment for the Orcas Island School District music program. A baritone saxophone, F-attachment trombone, double French horn and a mobile string bass storage rack are gifts that will benefit student musicians for years to come.
Our local public school music program provides band and strings students with quality instruments to learn on each year, keeping the program affordable for all families. We are thankful for the program’s hardworking teachers, Mrs. Wright and Mr. Dix, who maintain the instrument inventory in addition to their teaching responsibilities.
Looking ahead to spring, we hope you will join us for the MAG Benefit Concert for school music on Sunday, March 2, at 3 p.m. at the Orcas Island High School gym. This annual community tradition will feature music by Turtleback Brass, Orcas Island Community Band, Orcas Choral Society Ensemble and, of course, Orcas Island student musicians. Please join us after the concert to enjoy delicious refreshments.
School music enriches the lives of our students in many ways, and we are grateful that our music-loving Orcas Island community shares our values. See you March 2!
