A musical journey without borders

Quantic

WILL Holland (aka Quantic) is a musician, producer, and DJ whose career spans continents and genres. With roots in Worcestershire and now based in New York, Quantic has crafted a sound that seamlessly blends electronic, Latin, jazz, and soul influences. His music, rich with global textures, is a testament to his ability to marry heritage and innovation.

Holland’s career began in his teens, recording music at home with encouragement from his musically inclined family. His debut album, The 5th Exotic (2001), released under Tru Thoughts, marked the start of an illustrious journey. Subsequent projects like Stampede with the Quantic Soul Orchestra and collaborations with vocalists such as Alice Russell showcased his knack for fusing live instrumentation with deep funk and soul rhythms.

In 2007, Quantic relocated to Cali, Colombia, immersing himself in the country’s vibrant musical culture. His collaborations with local talents like Nidia Góngora and Alfredo Linares birthed albums such as Tradition in Transition and Curao, which explored Afro-Colombian sounds while pushing creative boundaries.

Released in 2011, Look Around the Corner marked the first full-length collaboration between Quantic) and soul singer Alice Russell. Recorded with the Sonido del Valle studio band, the album blends soul, jazz, and Latin influences into a warm, vintage-inspired sound. Featuring rich instrumentation, including violins, horns, and rhythmic grooves, the album showcases Russell’s soulful vocals alongside Quantic’s masterful production. Tracks like the title song and “Magdalena” evoke a timeless feel, while the interplay of live musicianship and heartfelt melodies create a soulful, psychedelic atmosphere.

Quantic’s latest solo album, Atlantic Oscillations (2019), exemplifies his artistry. Combining orchestral elements with dance rhythms, the record reflects years of exploration and experimentation. Alongside this, his Flowering Inferno project and regular DJ sets demonstrate his versatility and enduring passion for music.
