Colombo’s exclusive piano bar and music room opens at The Bayleaf

The Bayleaf recently refurbished, uplifting the grand colonial mansion and its facilities as part of its 20th anniversary celebration plans, has announced the opening of its new piano bar and music room with Justin Whyte visiting Jazz pianist from the UK. 

The Bayleaf claims its spot as Colombo’s finest Italian restaurant in its own right serving the community for 20 years.

Harpo Gooneratne said: “I have realised my dream, with my love for music, ever since I started as a restaurateur 20 years ago to introduce this concept at our restaurant to enjoy a combination of live lounge entertainment with young soloists, duos and other entertainers along with offering exceptional food, a great ambiance and selection of wine and cocktails. It has come true for me with The Bayleaf Piano Bar and Music room, making it the place to relax and enjoy memorable evenings in the city.”

With the help of well-known architect Sadev Wittachy, the interior was revamped to offer a chic, hidden escape, with décor that evokes retro glamour with velvet curtains, light cane bar stools and lounge chairs, nostalgic posters of music greats and double-height ceiling. 

The intimate space has become a gathering spot for after-work cocktails, post-dinner indulgences and late-night tapas while relaxing to cool to upbeat entertainment. Designed and set within the mansion’ inspired by similar concepts around the world, this new venue brings a blend of luxury, culinary creativity, and exclusive musical ambiance to the city, elevating the traditional hotel bar experience. 

Guests can enjoy live entertainment from Thursday to Saturday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. featuring young and also some well-known artists Shamista, Sheaam with Sriyal, Melissa, new debut Mithu, and Eshani performing with Nishantha, who doesn’t need any introduction in the music scene.
